Community Housing Update

  • COMMUNITY HOUSING UPDATE

The community housing project is nearing completion with final touches being made to the 73 one and two bedroom apartments. Next will be the hard landscaping which will wrap around the whole complex, taking in the beautiful established trees with paths that continue to invite foot traffic between Mollison to Myers St.

On December 1 and 2 the site was alive with visitors, including our generous donors who joined Dean Shirley, Rev Di Esbensen, David Castles and Belinda Smith, for a sneak peek of some finished apartments with wonderful views of the church and township on the upper levels. The reaction to the buildings was overwhelmingly positive.

Also touring the site  were representatives from Homes Victoria, Department of Transport and Planning, Bendigo City Council, Office of Victorian Government Architects, Treasury Corporation of Victoria and MGS Architects, who joined Executive Director of Housing and Property Kristie Looney and new Bendigo based Community Housing Officer, Bree King, who has been working with the allocations team to review the 230 tenancy applications.

The strong response from the community to apply for this housing underlines just how much it’s needed in Bendigo. We look forward to welcoming our new neighbours as they start to move into their homes from late February 2026.
